Welcome to Romeion's Ramblings

My photo
This site is a collection of some of my writings and innermost expressions. I am a Journalism student who welcomes every opportunity to express myself through my writing and use this medium to, in my own small way, effect change in the lives of everyone with whom I come in contact. I absolutely love every aspect of the arts and anything that allows one to creatively express themselves. Consequently, I am a graphic artist, a musician and a soccer player. Life is all about expression and it is my hope that persons who come in contact with this medium will leave with renewed vigor and the urge to express themselves and start a domino-effect of change that will help to make life for mankind better.

Help save an Endangered Species: Mankind!

Without sounding like another self-righteous prick who talks more about the problem rather than offer a practical solution, i want to state briefly my opinions on a few things that i have been observing for quite some time now. Some mole-hills of problems evolved into mountains because of mankind's ineptness and inability to deal with them. These problems are a great menace to our society and are largely responsible for it's moral decay but most of all, these issues are youth issues.

What is wrong with young people today? I am just a young man of 21 and i cannot help but feel like i was born in an unfortunate period in the historical time line of man's increasing destructive capabilities since, ever since the destruction of the wheel. Since then mankind has been wreaking havoc upon the very life force that was created to sustain it and the future, the hope of the race, are dumb to it.

There are so many problems facing human beings today such as Global Warming, worldwide breakdown in economics, Natural Disasters, Disease, Wars, loss of family values and the blatant demolition of the family structure, the foundation of our society. People are confused, dying, in pain and suffering and we are just blind to it. All around us the very existence of man is being threatened and what are we doing about it? we the future?

We are so caught up in ourselves and covered in the filth of our pitiful existences that we can't see pass the next pizza, the next movie, the next party, the next kiss. We remain oblivious to the pressures of the world that will one day affect us and are totally and find ourselves content to live in a dilapidated, scum filled society and feel no responsibility.

As a matter of fact, we play a great part in contributing to the devastation and are remain apathetic and when a young women takes her clothes off and binds her moth with black masking tape to make a political statement that many of us should be making without having to be prompted to do so, we mock and criticize her for taking that bold stance. Is it that we don't recognize what is taking place or Is it that we do recognize but feel powerless to do anything to change it? Maybe we don't see the point in changing it? As long as we are enjoying ourselves and 'the problems of the world are not ours' we feel safe.

But i have news for you! The problems of the world are everybody's. We all have a part to play in this world. It is time that young people take a stand and say no to the artistes who continue to sing songs glorifying a life of crime and violence, it is time that young people speak out against the unfairness and flagrant disregard for human life in waging a war against a country, not against the country's armed forces, but against civilians. It is time that young people call for measures to be put in place to educate and protect their peers against teenage pregnancy, early initiation into sexual intercourse and the use of illegal substances. It is time for each and everyone of us to take a stand and do something.

What am I doing you might ask? I'm writing this blog.

It may not be much now, but it is drop in bucket and i can only hope that someone will stumble across it and that it will prick them, or give them that nudge in the right direction, that may start a chain reaction of great and positive change around the globe, starting with our young people.
