Welcome to Romeion's Ramblings

My photo
This site is a collection of some of my writings and innermost expressions. I am a Journalism student who welcomes every opportunity to express myself through my writing and use this medium to, in my own small way, effect change in the lives of everyone with whom I come in contact. I absolutely love every aspect of the arts and anything that allows one to creatively express themselves. Consequently, I am a graphic artist, a musician and a soccer player. Life is all about expression and it is my hope that persons who come in contact with this medium will leave with renewed vigor and the urge to express themselves and start a domino-effect of change that will help to make life for mankind better.

For My Jamaican Youth

You freezer belly, smiling damned freezer belly
why you so cold? Have you no pity?

I wish for you perpetual insomnia you unconscionable pig
you who continue to rob the poor,

and sit and smile in your upper St. Andrew home looking through your glass door.

Glass Door. A luxury we don't have.
The same guns you bring in make dat impossible
Mothers don't remember what it is like to sleep on her bed
The floor-boards of her one-bedroom apartment the pillow for her head,
Children's growling stomachs their lullaby.
Mama work! Mama Cry!

Election time again. Mr. Freezer Belly appear with him promises.
"No more flooded roads. We will Clean your drains!"
Single father hangs his head in pain....
His back still aches from his relentless washing of the sidewalk to get rid of his son's bloodstains.

What is your plan?
You laugh an grow fat from your blood money,
While the yutes don't know if dem coming or going,
You stifle their interest in their history and occupy their minds with useless technology,
And you convince them dat dem educated but them just know a lot about nothing!

You keep them high on drugs,
sex and alcohol the teachers of life's harshest lessons,
You teach them to stand against each other,
they fall unwittingly into your trap.
Forasaking all knowledge. Widening of the generation gap.

Mr. Freezer Belly your time will come,
Your vicissitudes our redemption,
Values and veracity our youths will embrace,
Yes. When your kingdom fall Mr. Freezer Belly,
Then shall the youths know the true meaning of walking tall.

Your illusion of equal opportunity will become a reality,
Freedom to date a girl from the odda community;
widout haffi a watch u head back day in day-out,
the youts will embrace honesty and regain their lack pride,
no more jiudging their brother by the vehicle whe him drive,

No more hiding things from us within the pages of a book
Masters of our own destiny and keepers of our truth,
What a great day it will be.
Look out world. For here come the Jamaican youth.
Equal rights and justice for all.
What a blessed day when Mr. Freezer Belly kingdom fall. .
